Coaching FAQs

Are the coaching sessions online or in-person?

Either option is available and both are equally as effective.

I’m based in Sydney, Australia so I’m able to conduct some sessions in-person. I also have clients who are interstate or overseas, so quite a few sessions are online.

Is coaching only for people having problems or challenges?

Not at all. Coaching is designed to lift performance and improve wellbeing. It is valuable for addressing challenges as well as capitalizing on opportunities. Imagine a world champion sports team. Even when they’re on top of their game, to succeed year on year they need to continue to enhance skills, keep evolving as a team and continually adopt new thinking and ideas.

How do I know if coaching is right for me?

It’s a good question because sometimes it’s not. Sometimes training or mentoring is a better fit right now. If you have the skill (for the most part) and the willingness to grow, learn, trust and act, then coaching could be perfect for you!

How do you ensure ethical conduct when coaching?

I am a certified organisational coach and abide by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics. https://coachingfederation.org/credentialing/coaching-ethics/icf-code-of-ethics/

Are coaching sessions confidential?

Yes, the content of coaching sessions is bound by the principals of confidentiality set out in the above ICF Code of Ethics. However, please be aware that the coach-client/coachee relationship is not considered a legally confidential relationship.

In organisational coaching, depending on the length of the engagement, I usually have a set-up, mid-point and/or wrap up meeting with your direct manager/HR lead. During these meetings it is common to share themes that have been discussed, but the content remains confidential.

How do I know how many sessions to book?

This is dependent on your circumstances. Once we have a planning chat, I may recommend a certain number of sessions however you may choose what suits you and your budget.

How often should I have a coaching session?

The frequency also depends on what suits you. It is common to start with fortnightly or weekly sessions and then spread the remainder out to every 3 or 4 weeks.

If I can’t make a session or change my mind about coaching, can I cancel?

Of course! I’d really appreciate 48 hours’ notice where possible. We will do our best to re-schedule the missed session. If you are partway through the coaching engagement and you want to cancel the remainder of the sessions, that’s completely fine. We may agree that coaching is not the right type of learning for you right now.

How much does coaching cost?

Once we have a planning chat, I can provide you with a specific quote. I also have some examples of schedules and pricing that I am happy to share anytime.
